SECURE PREVIEW DESIGN

Preview buttons do not call Azure directly. The webpage requests a controlled preview from the ReadThisAloud API. ReadThisAloud validates the voice, rate-limits the request, uses a fixed sample phrase, and returns generated MP3 audio. Repeated samples are cached server-side to reduce unnecessary Azure usage.

Understanding the catalog

What customers should know about Azure natural voices.

200+ is ReadThisAloud's supported promise

Microsoft's broader Speech catalog can contain more voices than ReadThisAloud chooses to expose. ReadThisAloud may filter experimental, preview, specialized, regional, higher-cost, or otherwise unsuitable models.

Locales matter

A voice labeled en-US, en-GB, en-PH, or another locale is designed around a particular language and regional speaking profile.

Pronunciation can vary

Names, acronyms, abbreviations, medical terms, product names, URLs, numbers, and unusual punctuation may sound different from what a particular listener expects.

No voice is guaranteed forever

Microsoft or ReadThisAloud can add, update, replace, region-limit, or retire voices. Business workflows should have an acceptable backup voice.

Preview uses controlled text

The public website intentionally does not provide an unrestricted free-text Azure synthesizer. This protects ReadThisAloud from abuse and uncontrolled cloud charges.

Cloud narration uses plan allowance

Inside the Reader, supported natural narration can count toward the applicable monthly narration allowance regardless of which production voice is selected.

Customers need no Azure account

ReadThisAloud owns and controls the backend connection to its Speech resource. Customers do not receive ReadThisAloud Azure subscription keys or private service credentials.

WAV rights follow source rights

Exporting synthetic narration does not give a customer copyright or other rights in source content the customer was not already entitled to use.

Review important output

When pronunciation or exact wording matters professionally, preview representative text in the Reader and review generated audio before distribution.
